Hopefully, Old Man Winter has blown his last gasp of cold air at us and spring is right around the corner.  It seems about time for some warmer temperatures and good beer drinking weather. 

Heiner Brau Maerzen has just been released and will be in the stores by mid-March.  This amber lager has a pronounced malt profile and a silky smooth finish.  Is this year’s brew as good as last year’s?  Judge for yourself at any of the local samplings we have coming up:

 Friday, March 14: Martin Wine Cellar, Mandeville, 5-7 PM.  Heiner Brau Maerzen and Heiner Brau Kolsch.

Saturday, March 15: Rouses Supermarket, Gause @ Hwy 11, Slidell, 10 AM-Noon.  Heiner Brau Kolsch and Heiner Brau Mardi Gras Festbier.

Saturday, March 15: Rouses Supermarket, Gause @ I-10, Slidell, 1-5 PM.  Heiner Brau Kolsch and Heiner Brau Mardi Gras Festbier.

Friday, March 21: The Wine Room, Mandeville, 5-7 PM.  Heiner Brau Maerzen and Heiner Brau Kolsch.

Saturday, March 22: Covington Supermarket, 11 AM-2 PM.  Heiner Brau Maerzen and Heiner Brau Kolsch.

Heiner Brau takes its show on the road for two events later this month.  Look for the brewery tent at Chef Soiree in Covington on Sunday, March 16^th from 5-9 PM.  It’s guaranteed to have the best beers served for the third year in a row!

On Saturday, March 29^th the LSU Rural Life Museum in Baton Rouge will be the site for Zapp’s International Beer Fest IV.  The fest runs from 3:30 – 6PM and will feature a large variety of foreign and domestic beers as and an interesting assortment of homebrews.  It’s a great setting for a fun afternoon.

All good things take time.  Visit the brewery and find out how Heiner Brau beers go from grain to glass.  Wrap a tour around a trip to the farmers market and watch the new Covington Trailhead Park approach completion.  Tours of the brewery are every Saturday (except major holiday weekends) starting at 10, 10:45 and 11:30 AM. 

Mark your calendars to attend Heiner Brau Maifest in Covington, Saturday, May 3^nd, 10AM – 8 PM.  Celebrate the arrival of spring with a festival of fun, music, food and, of course, beer.

Finally, a little cool weather has come our way!  And we’ve had a quiet hurricane season – so far. 

 Whatever the weather, it’s now October, which means Heiner Brau’s Oktoberfest 2007 is just around the corner. 

Oktoberfest 2007 will be next to the brewery and across the street from the new CovingtonTrailheadPark, which is under construction:

  5:00 PM-9:00 PM, Friday, October 12^th
11:00 AM-9:00 PM, Saturday, October 13^th

 Please join us under the tent (rain or shine) for great food, Bavarian music and Heiner Brau’s outstanding Festbier.  Bring the children - there will be a Space Walk for their entertainment.
